About Whichbat

Welcome to Whichbat - we're happy to have you! We are a bat laboratory that performs physics testing on baseball bats - primarily those made for use by amateur (youth through college aged) players. If you've ever been frustrated by the process of buying a baseball bat, we know how you feel. This question - "Which bat is the best one for my player?" - has frustrated parents, coaches, hitting instructors, and players for years. The main problem is that the answer to that question is different for each player.

What Whichbat does is take all of the data we collect about the bats, and match it to player characteristics to determine which bats will perform the best for any given player. We do this by performing extensive testing and data analysis - spanning dozens of players across age, size, skill, and strength.

Who in their right mind would do something like this? Whichbat is primarily a three person team comprising:

• A former baseball player turned youth coach and IP attorney with over 20 seasons of experience, a degree in Biomedical Engineering and an extensive background in computer science;
• A physicist who is also a registered patent attorney, also with an extensive background in computer science and hardware design; and
• The founder of a large youth select baseball organization and career baseball coach (not to mention former collegiate and professional player).

We believe that you'll recognize a number of different benefits by using this service to take the mystery out of the process, including:

• Buy the right bat for your player the first time. Over the course of the player's career, you'll buy fewer bats and be confident in the choice you made.
• Keep your player engaged in playing the game. Nothing is worse than watching a player not have success on the field simply because they're using the wrong bat. The differences are significant enough to truly affect the results.
• Most importantly... your player will be confident at the plate, knowing that they have the right equipment for them.

We often are asked if we sell bats - the answer is no. However, we do sell the bats we buy and test once we are done gathering our data. These bats are very clean and are "like new."
